As a resident of Manistee and avid cycled I suggest making our city safer for cycling. I follow Michigan's cycling laws and have had incidents while riding on the streets where motorists have threatened, swerved at me, or narrowly missed me with their vehicle. I believe the easiest solution is to have sharrows painted on the major thoroughfares through the city indicating that bicycles have the same rights as a motorist. I also think some "Share the Road" signs would be helpful to provide education that the roads are not just reserved for motorists. I think it is vital to address the safety of cycling as our town has a major hotel coming in and major improvements with the downtown. The roads are certain to become busier and more dangerous for those riding their bikes.
